Second annual MT ALPHA Skills clinic: Saturday, June 7

Picture
We are excited to announce that MT Alpha Cycling will host another mountain bike skills clinic for women on Saturday, June 7 at Ten Spoon Winery in Missoula, Montana. Back by popular demand, we look forward to a second annual daylong skills clinic for the Western Montana Region. With clinic headquarters near the Rattlesnake Wilderness area and Mount Jumbo trail system, the location is well-suited to offer trail riding and skills practicing for all levels. The event will be similar to last year's clinic, but will have improvements based on rider and instructor feedback from last summer.

The skills clinic offers a fun and safe environment for lady mountain bikers to improve their abilities and get out riding, whether at a beginner or expert level. As one participant reported, "The skills clinic took my riding from mediocre to competitive, I was a different rider after just the one day." Last year we recruited 12 instructors from around the state and we look forward to bringing even more expert instructors for the clinic this summer. Over sixty women from age 12 to 62  participated in 2013 and there will be more spots this year.

Groups are divided into junior girls, beginner, intermediate and advanced. New this year: an optional group for ladies 50+, who are interested building basic skills on intermediate terrain but feel more comfortable riding with women of the same age.

Two instructors will work with each group on:
Technical drills and specific skill set development, such as
        - Cornering
        - Clearing obstacles
        - Climbing
        - Switchbacks
        - Descending techniques

The afternoon session consists of a group ride where the skills will be put to use and evaluated by your instructors.

Not only is this a chance for women and girls to improve their mountain biking skills and increase their confidence, the day clinic will be an opportunity to find new cycling buddies and learn about the cycling organizations and support in the community.

"Boyfriend" attire could cover anything from oversize button-down tshirts, for you to unfastened straight-fitting direct skinny jeans, for you to under garment made inside kind of minor boys' superhero briefs.

Some women go through issues and health care related problems that only other women would understand. And with healthcare being as expensive as it is today, it would help if you had someone there to talk to whenever you had a question that wouldn't cost you money to see them constantly. That's why many women are joining healthcare groups for women.
