Our Team
MT ALPHA CYCLING IS A 501(C)3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOUNDED BY JAMIE TERRY AND KRISTINE AKLAND IN 2012. WE WOULDN'T BE HERE WITHOUT OUR VOLUNTEER RUN BOARD AND COMMITTEES. A THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED!
Jenna TomielloJenna likes riding bikes! It took her a while to find it, but cycling is her one true joy (cycling... and her husband and dogs). She thinks pickles are the best trail snacks, and pickle juice the magic race elixir. Her favorite rides almost always include giant climbs on gravel bikes, probably getting lost once or twice. If you're racing cyclocross, she'll give you a hand-up while yelling at you to "ride your bike already." She became the Executive Director of MT Alpha in 2022, after over 15 years of non-profit work with educational programming and management, and is excited to be here.

MaryJane (MJ) MartinI joined MT Alpha in 2016 as a way to connect with a new community and get involved with cycling after moving to Missoula. Through Alpha, I've had the opportunity and privilege of coaching junior mountain biking, after-school flagship programs, and our women's clinics. As a PMBI certified coach and the MT Alpha program director, my goal is to offer women and juniors of all abilities an opportunity to safely practice mtb skills, ask questions, and explore new ways to ride their bike.
Personally, I enjoy gravel, long trail rides, and rowdy park days. When I'm not on the bike you can find me adventuring with my dog Ruth, knitting hats, and handing out treats and shots at our local cyclocross races! |
RACE TEAM COMMITTEE
Race members usually want to work hard, then play hard, both while riding and racing. This committee helps create weekly race team member rides and puts it on the shared member calendar along with upcoming races. These group rides are usually fast paced, intense, but, as always, fun for all who want to push themselves to the limit. Chair: Caroline Lurgio Co-Chair: TBD Members: Jamie Terry Bethany Jakubik Colleen Bue Elsa Rose |
CLUB TEAM COMMITTEE
This committee organizes the weekly, no-drop, club member rides and puts it on the shared member calendar. Rides can be challenging and will push many riders, but without the more intense workout/interval component. The main goal is to get both club and race members together to get to know one another, while keeping things fun. Chair: Lauren Olson Co-Chair: Bri Lui Members: MJ Martin Louisa Berky |
JUNIOR COMMITTEE
Children are our future. We love seeing our junior riders learn and grow throughout the years as strong, determined, confident young women and riders. This committee helps to identify, develop and organize a way to get more junior girls on bikes throughout our community while providing a healthy, safe, non-judgmental environment. Chair: Meg Whicher Co-Chair: Kristine Akland Members: MJ Martin |
MARKETING/PR COMMITTEE
Also with sub-comittee's in sponsorship and fundraising. This committee's purpose is to develop and oversee the "face" of MT Alpha with merchandise, social media, website maintenance, fundraising, cycling kits, and newsletters through general marketing and promotional awareness. They work closely with all other committees to ensure the mission and values of the organization are well voiced. Chair: Bri Lui Co-Chair: Kristine Akland Members: Bethany Jakubik Sarah Millar Elizabeth Willy Hilary Wood Cassie Nelson |
SKILLS CLINIC/EVENTS COMMITTEE
Our yearly MT Alpha skills clinic is well known in the area and fills up in a blink of an eye. This is the committee involved in making our yearly, all-women's (plus junior boys), MT Alpha spring skills clinic happen. Not only that, this committee also helps to put on other skills clinics for MT Alpha members if needed, along with other potential events. Chair: Lauren Olson Co-Chair: Bethany Jakubik Members: Sarah Millar Kylie Paul MJ Martin Louisa Berky Natalie Wagenbrenner |
TRAIL STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
We want to be involved in educating both trail etiquette as well as understanding the hard work involved in maintaining trails in Missoula. This is a committee that works closely with our fellow Missoula trail advocacy entities, including MTB Missoula. We all love the trails in Missoula, and so we all must help keep our trails viable for both humans and the surrounding nature.
